About Me

I am, firstly, a follower of Christ and forever in His debt for what He has done for me on the cross. I know I don't love Him nearly as much as I should, and I am not as dedicated a servant as I know He deserves, but it is my first and foremost goal in life to bring Him glory and honor in all that I do. You can read a bit more about what my faith looks like in this post.
I have a younger brother whom I love dearly, despite his (hopefully) temporary lack of maturity. He hasn't quite grown up yet, so I'll give him a couple more years. ;) He spends most of his time keeping bees and doing other bee-related things, and adding to his collection of fly-fishing equipment. He gets along really well with old men, because he can talk to them about fishing and other things of that nature, while the boys in this age and area are just interested in video games and the like. We, if you hadn't guessed, don't 'do' video games. Don't get me wrong, it's not that we think that they are inherently evil (at least not most of them, haha), but they are addictive and a waste of time, to put it bluntly.
I was homeschooled through high school, and I think that is the greatest blessings of my life. My mom had not ever planned to homeschool me, until she was unable to register me for public school and had no other choice. THANK YOU LORD!!!! Our whole family has been so blessed by it and I could imagine going to school anywhere but my house or being taught by anyone but my mom throughout my school years. I now am studying at a junior college and will hopefully be transfering to a university Fall 2016. By the way, I have wonderful parents as well. My dad is a police sergeant for the city where we live, and he works very hard in order to support our family. My mom doesn't work, in a certain sense, but she does work, in another. She is always busy; with farm work, with teaching us, and with work around the house. She has really amazed me in the past couple of years with the skills she has in carpentry and building as well.
I am a big reader, and a big fan of several movies as well. Here are a few lists of my 'favorite things':

BOOKS:

The Hobbit, The Lord Of The Rings series, The Silmarillion, The Book Of Lost Tales, and anything else written by J.R.R Tolkien.

The Redwall series of books, by Brian Jaccques.

Any Jane Austen book, my favorites are Pride And Prejudice and Emma.

Jane Eyre, by Charlotte Bronte.

The Narnia series, by C. S. Lewis - these books never get old.

The Eagle Of The Ninth, by Rosemary Sutcliffe.

Rifles For Watie, by Harold Keith. Note: I do not agree with all of the political views on the Civil War in this book, particularly some of the pro-Union ones.

The Scarlet Pimpernel, by Baroness Orczy.

North And South, and Wives And Daughters, by Elizabeth Gaskell.

  1. ERMAHGERSH -- ok, firstly hi. :D

    I'm Beth, from adventuresofanelvenprincess.blogspot.com

I stumbled across your blog from your Pinterest, via the board that you share with Kayla (Alexander)... and may I just say you seem so seriously awesome. :D

I'm also a devoted Christian homeschooler like yourself (hehe).

And that I love like basically all your "favorite things." (except Les Mis. never got into that for some reason.. and a few of the books that I've just never had the pleasure of reading. ;) )

So, just thought I'd jot a comment saying hello, you're awesome, can't wait to read more of your blog, and you're now on my "favorite blogs" list. ;)

    P.S. uhm... TOM HIDDLESTON.

    1. Hello back!! You are seriously awesome too, by the way. Your cosplays are AMAZING - I love looking at your blog to see what you're sewing at the moment. Somehow, though, I'm not sure how, it didn't get onto my following list until now, so thanks for the reminder!
      And yeah, Tom Hiddleston... *squeal*!!!

      Blessings,
      Reyna

  2. Hi Reyna,
I'm Amber from amberonthemountain.blogspot.com, and I discovered your blog through Beth's blog, actually! I just read your "About Me" page, and a lot of it I could have copied and pasted as a description of me :) It's always fun when you meet someone with similar interests. I thought it was interesting that you mentioned wanting to live on a farm in Tennessee, because that's where I live! We don't actually own a farm, but our mountain property is literally surrounded by cows and horses and such, so I feel like I live on a farm. I was homeschooled the whole way as well (I'm in college now), and also have an awesome younger brother. Ah, Tolkien and C.S. Lewis are AMAZING! What is your favorite book by each author? I love The Hobbit by Tolkien, and The Horse and His Boy by C.S. Lewis. And I love your second paragraph :)
Anyway, that was a really jumbled-up paragraph, but I just thought I'd say "hi" and I'm excited to check out your blog! Feel free to browse around mine as well!

      Blessings,
      Reyna
